Empowering the Future: The Sabar Girls' Hostel

PBKSKS recognizes the profound impact that education, particularly for girls, can have on the ignorant Sabar community, especially one facing significant challenges in accessing education. By establishing a girls' hostel, we aim to create a safe and supportive environment where 50 girls from the Sabar Community can access quality education without the problems and predicaments they might face in their traditional living arrangements.

With the recommendation of the Government of West Bengal, On 16th March 2024 Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) sanctioned the hostel for 75 Sabar Girls hostel. Presently the hostel has the capacity to keep 50 Girls, and we are in search of funds to extend the 1st Floor of the Hostel to accommodate more 25 to 50 Sabar Girls. These girls from the far-located Sabar hamlets stay in the hostel and continue their schooling at DPM High School, Rajnowagarh, very opposite of our hostel.

Establishing a girls' hostel for the Sabar Community is not an act of gender bias, but a strategic initiative to address the systemic challenges faced by the Sabar girls in accessing education. By prioritizing girls' education within the Sabar Community, we are not only addressing immediate educational needs but also laying the foundation for long-term social and economic development. Educated girls are more likely to become educated mothers who prioritize their children's education, thus creating a positive ripple effect that extends far beyond their own lives. Sabar girls' education is not just a necessity; it is the key to unlocking the potential of the entire Sabar Community and fostering a brighter future for generations to come. These 50 girls, once educated, will serve as beacons of hope and inspiration, driving positive change and fostering a culture of learning and progress within the Sabar Community.
