Sabar Mela, which was earlier known as Daal Parab started in 1983 by founding members of Sabar Samity, has been the biggest cultural festival of the Sabar community initiated by Sabar Samity as a medium of celebration and awareness. Sabar Mela is a three-day long festival organized every year in October-November at Rajnovagargh. Hundreds of Sabar families were united during this fair. It is also attended by eminent people from all sections such as academicians, administrators, political party leaders, members of the judiciary, artists and other community people as well. Various cultural activities happen during the first two days of the Mela which includes drama, traditional Sabar dance, music as well as art presentations by several artists. On the last day of the Sabar Mela is to discuss the issues of Sabar people in detail and to strategies the possible mitigation plan of action. Various awareness activities were also organized on day three. The event also includes awareness activities such as archery competitions and educational workshops. Sabar Mela has been a platform for artists and developing network linkages.
